Yes, this. I am sure the differences are meaningful to those who participate in this type of group, but as far as I can see the main outward difference is the amount of abusive language they use in their attempts to accomplish the same restrictive goals. (Well. And one member of CU -- WishingDreamer5 -- was actually willing to listen to me with an open mind and never resorted to insults or victim-blaming, so there's that in their favor. The group may well have started from good motives and some members seem to be decent people, despite the attitude three out of four members presented to me.)
Both CU and these outright misogynists seem determined to label me a troll and cast themselves as the injured/righteous party, when all I am doing is asking for a clarification of a badly worded rule and refusing to be intimidated into deleting my stories while I can make a perfectly justifiable case that the rule in question only applies to second person used in the service of interactivity and not to all uses of second person whatsoever. Furthermore, in response to the notion that I have "brought trolls" onto myself and/or my fandom... well, would these trolls ever have heard of me if CU members hadn't posted my name as a sanctioned target on their forum that they know the trolls use as a hunting ground? Somehow I doubt it.
