Master List of Elizabeth Culmer's Fanfiction: Crossovers
---------------------------------------------
Organization: This list is organized in vaguely chronological order, counting from the start of each series or multi-chapter story. Memes and miscellaneous one-shots are at the bottom of the page. Word counts and writing dates are approximations.
Content/Warning Policy: 1) I am not consistent about warnings! I use them when I remember, for a few relatively broad categories of potentially problematic content, but if something is off-page, non-explicit, or generally backgrounded, I probably won't think to note it in the metadata. 2) The things I try to warn for are explicit sex, rape, murder, torture, cannibalism, incest, depression/suicide, familial dysfunction, and occasionally also societal dysfunction (aka dystopia). Sometimes I just slap a general content warning on all my fic for a given fandom and don't label each individual fic. I also don't generally warn for violence, unless the violence in a fic is dramatically out-of-step with the violence in its source canon. 3) I don't use any content rating system unless I'm posting to a site or community that requires or encourages ratings, because I find movie-style ratings counter-intuitive when applied to written fiction, and not particularly useful for anything other than denoting the presence of explicit sex, which I already note in the metadata.
Quality Rating System: I've marked my favorite stories with asterisks, on a scale of 1 to 4. The more asterisks, the more I like the story. This doesn't necessarily mean that stories without asterisks are bad, just that I don't like them as much. Also, I am not claiming to be an arbiter of taste; you may love stories I dislike, and vice versa. I am just providing a heads-up about the ones that I think are best written and/or most interesting.
Notes: My approach to crossovers is to take a stupid and/or ridiculous idea -- because crossing two separate secondary worlds is almost always a silly thing to do -- and treat it as realistically as possible, paying particular attention to characterization. I figure that I'm asking readers to suspend so much disbelief over jamming two series together that I'd better not push on any other aspect. Also, I feel the point of a crossover is to have characters from different canons meet -- or at least to have characters from one canon react to a different canon world -- so if you aren't writing them in-character, why are you even bothering? *grin*
Where To Read: As always, if an AO3 version exists, it is definitive. FF.net versions are definitive in the absence of an AO3 version. Journal versions are the equivalent of beta drafts, though the shorter and/or fragmentary works may never be posted anywhere else.
Contents: Lemonade, Locked Room Problems, An Ounce of Prevention, Weregild, The War of Secret Flames, Narutostuck, One Equal Temper of Heroic Hearts, Jewelstuck, When Natasha Met Parker, No Matter Where You Are, Edmund and Ginny Go to Harfang, assorted Narnia crossovers, miscellaneous crossovers, crossover memes
---------------------------------------------
*Lemonade: (ff.net version) WIP, 44,500 words so far, started Aug. 2005. An unfortunate accident with a demonic portal dumps Faith Lehane, Duo Maxwell, and Uchiha Sasuke into a hell dimension. Knowing these three, things can only get worse from there. Semi-explicit torture, implied and/or non-explicit sex, heavy innuendo, cursing, violence. (There will also be at least two mildly to moderately explicit threesome sex scenes before the story ends.) [Crossover: BtVS/Gundam Wing/Naruto]
"Lemonade" is the product of a crack pairings meme I did back in August 2005. It is designed to get Faith, Duo, and Sasuke into bed together, but, because I fail at PWP, it's become rather long and contains a lot of character development and an action/mystery plot as well. It's also an exercise in rotating POV.
"Lemonade" is currently a WIP; I can't rate it conclusively until I see if I pull off the ending or not.
---------------
---------------
*Locked Room Problems: (AO3 version; ff.net version; TTH version) 7,200 words, Nov. 2005-Oct. 2007. While searching for a mystical object in the temple of a demonic fertility goddess, Rupert Giles finds himself imprisoned in a single room, along with a man who has been caught in the same trap for nearly sixty years. (AKA, the one where Giles and Indiana Jones are trapped in a temple and must have sex to escape. Yes, really.) Moderately explicit sex. [Crossover: BtVS/Indiana Jones]
"Locked Room Problems" is a product of the same dream that produced Wearing Thin, only this time the plot bunny came armed with a location and a reason for Giles and Indiana Jones to have sex, so I was unable to divert it into a different fandom. The story is PWP at heart -- though I disguised it with a longish gen build-up and tiptoed lightly past the actual sex -- and the epilogue accidentally turned out to contain the set-up for an epic adventure story that I will never write.
(Note: to access the TTH direct story link above, you must have your preferences on that site set to allow FR21 stories. Otherwise go to my TTH author page and set your preferences from there; the relevant button is in the top right corner of the screen.)
---------------
---------------
**An Ounce of Prevention: (AO3 version; ff.net version) 20,000 words, Aug. 2006-July 2008. During the timeskip, Sakura finds a very interesting diary among Tsunade's books and papers. Trouble ensues. Contains mind games, violence, discussion of death and dirty tricks, and discussion of the ethics of war and assassination. [Crossover: Naruto/Harry Potter]
"An Ounce of Prevention" is another product of that crack pairings meme, though Sakura and Tom do NOT have a romantic relationship. I began writing this as a silly one-shot for
askerian's birthday, but the plot bunny nagged at me until I expanded the story. It ended up being about loyalty, responsibility, and Sakura's lingering issues over Sasuke's departure from Konoha; Tom is mostly a catalyst.
I set myself the challenge of writing a crossover that didn't disrupt canon in either series -- in other words, to write a story that could be a lost chapter of both the Harry Potter books and the Naruto manga -- and I think I succeeded. *is proud*
---------------
---------------
*Weregild: WIP, 31,400 words so far, started June 2011. Ariadne survived Nikolaos by keeping her head down and playing as harmless as a young master vampire can; Jean-Claude's rule is better, but she still dreams of freedom. When bounty hunters Dominic Cobb and Arthur come to St. Louis seeking revenge for the death of Dom's wife, they set off a storm of events that may grant Ariadne's wish in a most unexpected way. Arthur/Ariadne/Eames, past Dom/Mal, background Anita/Jean-Claude and Anita/Richard tension. [Crossover: Inception/Anita Blake]
"Weregild" is what happens when I transplant the characters from Inception into the Anitaverse, and alter them so they appear to have always existed there. In other words, it is complete and utter crack... but crack that I take very seriously and am writing as close to realistically as I can. *grin*
Inception canon is cheerfully mangled to fit, though a lot of the general patterns carry over. I am treating the first nine Anita books as canon, but ignoring almost everything from Narcissus in Chains onward -- bad porn with consent issues is not really my thing. :-/ Also, I'm pretending Guilty Pleasures was set in 2009 and ignoring the technology discrepancies that creates.
"Weregild" is currently a WIP; I can't rate it conclusively until I see if I pull off the ending or not.
Beneath Rain on a Strange Roof: (AO3 version) 1,050 words, Sept. 2013. In happier times, Arthur babysits for Mal and Dom. Tiny prequel to "Weregild." Prompt: babysitting. Written for
cottoncandy_bingo.

The War of Secret Flames
This is a fusion of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Enchanted Forest Chronicles. The basic idea is to adapt the characters and plot of Avatar to make them seem an organic part of the Enchanted Forest world. In other words, there are no benders, no Avatar, no Fire Nation, no spirit world, and no trips to the poles... but there are magicians, fire witches, sneaky royal advisors, magic swords, transfiguration spells, and dragons. And there is still a lot of humor, because humor is integral to both series.
During the seventeen-year gap between Calling on Dragons and Talking to Dragons, there is a short, nasty war among the nations on the other side of the Mountains of Morning from the Enchanted Forest. One one side, we have Lord Ozai, chief advisor to the king of Veritand (and power behind the throne) who wants to conquer the world and make magic-users rule over non-magical people; his daughter and right hand, Azula; Princess Mai and her court jester in training, Ty Lee; and Zuko, who really sucks at controlling his magic. On the other side, we have Aang, a dilettante student magician; Sokka and Katara, siblings from an isolated village, one of whom received the power to control water from a passing fairy godmother; Toph, the princess of the duchy of Toure-on-Marsh (yes, Alianora's daughter!); plus Appa the winged buffalo and Momo the squirrel. Guest-starring Morwen, Telemain, and Kazul.
At the moment, this story exists as a few random snippets and a novel-length outline that I am determinedly not writing. (That may change someday...)
What You Wish For: 1,400 words, Dec. 2009. A few months after her mother and half the people in the village of South Wolf River were petrified by a pack of rogue basilisks, Katara meets a fairy godmother in training who is dealing with losses of her own. A quiet slice of life, with laundry.
The Two Secretive Princesses: 650 words, Dec. 2009. Toph knows Princess Mai has a secret. Not being in on that secret is driving her crazy. (Also featuring Zuko and a goose.)
Turn to Stone: 1,025 words, March 2010. Toph, Mai, and Ty Lee during Azula's invasion of Toure-on-Marsh. Implied offscreen violence. [Request!fic for
silverblade219]
Silent Screams: 925 words, March 2010. The alternate, darker version of Toph and Mai during the invasion of Toure-on-Marsh. Implied offscreen violence and death. [Request!fic for
silverblade219]
The Enemy of My Enemy Is NOT My Friend: 650 words, Dec. 2009. Zuko and Sokka both visit Morwen to ask for help. Their reactions to her advice are oddly similar. Silly at heart, though Sokka's section has some slightly darker implications.

Narutostuck
A fusion in which the Homestuck characters -- both humans and trolls -- have been dropped into the Naruto world as if they'd always been there. The land west of Wind Country is now the Land of Space (aka Uchuu no Kuni) with its center in Kouingakure (aka Hidden Time), ruled by the Condesce with the Grand Highblood as the Uchuukage until the Sufferer's rebellion successfully overthrew them. A couple years later, relations with the Elemental Countries are beginning to normalize (it helps that the plot of Naruto has just concluded, presumably in a win for the good guys), and several three-person teams are sent east across the desert to participate in a chuunin exam... and also to give their teachers a pretext to hunt down the Condesce and her remaining supporters.
This sounds like the summary of a novel. It's not actually a novel, because the last thing I need is another novel-length WIP hanging over my head. Instead, this AU is an excuse to write loosely connected standalone ficlets when the impulse strikes.
GENERAL CONTENT WARNING: There's a lot of background darkness in these fics, because the premise is a country and culture slowly recovering from generations of dystopia. The most common manifestations of this are violence, brainwashing/conditioning, torture, use of child soldiers, and forced eugenics programs. I feel this is in keeping with both parent canons and am not going to warn for every possible trigger in each individual fic. Just take it as read that here be dragons, okay?
*Narutostuck: The Mother of Necessity: (AO3 version) 975 words, July 2013. Trolls can't breed for bloodline limits, but humans can. The old regime is not kind in its methods. Roxy does what she can to spare Dirk the consequences. [15-minute fic]
*Narutostuck: Family Planning: (AO3 version) 775 words, March 2016. If Dirk's kids ask questions, he'll give them honest answers. He's pretty sure he's going to scar them for life sooner or later. (AKA, Dirk explains the old regime's eugenics program to Dave.) [prompt!fic for
madamehardy]
Narutostuck: No Child Left Behind: (AO3 version) 1,450 words, March 2016. The testing happens on Dave's birthday. In the first hour past dawn, soldiers knock on the doors of every kid who's turned six since the last round of tests, five months ago. Rose tries to persuade Dave's escort to take her too, but no dice. The list is the law, and he was born seven minutes before midnight while she was born six minutes after. The regime doesn't care about her until the next round.
Dave waves goodbye to his sister and mom as the soldier leads him away. If he's lucky, he'll see them again tonight. If he's not, well, there's nothing he can do except try to take someone with him when he dies. [prompt!fic for
mid-childan-puella-magi]
Narutostuck: Triptych: (AO3 version) 1,150 words, March 2016. Karkat, Terezi, and Dave: three first meetings. [prompt!fic for anonymous]
*Narutostuck: Riptide: (AO3 version) 500 words, March 2016. Midway through the rebellion, Feferi, Jade, and Aradia break a prisoner out of the Uchuukage's compound. Unfortunately they fail the plausible deniability part of the mission. [prompt!fic for
mid-childan-puella-magi]
*Narutostuck: By Which a Shattered World: (AO3 version) 1,650 words, March 2016. The battle for Kouin doesn't end with the assault on the Uchuukage's compound, but Jane and Roxy have enough downtime to get philosophical. [prompt!fic for anonymous]
Narutostuck: Damaged Goods: (AO3 version) 3,425 words, June 2015. After the revolution, Karkat is assigned to a special forces training team with Terezi Pyrope and Dave Strider. He'd never admit it, but they might be the least bad of his possible options. (They might even agree.)
Narutostuck: Culture Shock: (AO3 version) 275 words, July 2015. The thing about Abyss, the part no outsider understands, is that it wasn't horrible at all. It was family. [15-minute fic]
*Narutostuck: The Spider and the Flies: (AO3 version) 2,400 words, March 2012. The eastern countries have reached out to the new government of the Land of Space, inviting the village of Hidden Time to send participants to the upcoming chuunin exam in Konoha. Vriska Serket is very interested in whether her country's new leaders will accept, and ropes her teammates into helping her spy on their meeting. [Prompt!fic for
runespoor]
*Narutostuck: Set with Stars: (AO3 version) 1,100 words, July 2013. While traveling east to the chuunin exam, Terezi reflects on history and maps and indulges in a bit of pointless stargazing. Her teammates help, in their own idiosyncratic ways. Contains passing mention of Terezi's fraught history with Vriska. [15-minute fic]
Narutostuck: Tall Tales: (AO3 version) 525 words, March 2016. Shortly after the Kouin contingent's arrival in Konoha, Naruto attempts to explain recent events to Vriska. He fails. Badly. [prompt!fic for anonymous]

One Equal Temper of Heroic Hearts
In which the Pevensies' England and the Watchers' England are one and the same. Or in other words, welcome to a fusion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Chronicles of Narnia that thus far mostly revolves around Lucy and Susan being awesome. :D
All titles are lines from Tennyson's 'Ulysses,' just because.
*Sword and Stake (Hath Yet Her Honor and Her Toil): 625 words, May 2014. The new Council hires Lucy Pevensie to train novice Watchers. Dawn enrolls in her class. Written for Remix Madness 2014, based on Sword and stake by
rthstewart.
*As Though To Breathe Were Life: (AO3 version) 1,700 words, May 2014. Lucy kills her first vampire at thirteen. A Council representative turns up the next day. Prequel to Sword and Stake (Hath Yet Her Honor and Her Toil). [gift!fic for
rthstewart]
the seat containing of unweary'd flame (Meet Adoration to My Household Gods): (AO3 version) 200 words, Jan. 2017. Susan learns magic in England. Part of the One Equal Temper of Heroic Hearts series. Written for
lignota in the Three Sentence Ficathon 2016.
*But Every Hour Is Saved from That Eternal Silence: (AO3 version) 1,450 words, May 2016. While working to locate and seal a wild dimensional portal, Susan and her demon-hunting partner receive instructions from the Powers That Be that neatly derail the tragedy of TLB. Prompt: sleepwalking/sleepingtalking. Written for
cottoncandy_bingo. [prompt!fic for
rollinginbooks]

---------------
Jewelstuck
This is a Homestuck/Black Jewels crossover fusion. Basically, I have shoved a bunch of Black Jewels world-building into the standard Homestuck setting. The beta kids are now Blood -- they have Jewels and castes and so on -- and this ability to touch the Darkness and use Craft interacts oddly with Sburb and paradox space. Dave and Dirk are Eyrien, because wings; Rose and Roxy are Dea al Mon, because dangerous women. (What, I need deeper reasons? *grin*)
When First We Practice To Deceive: (AO3 version) 4,350 words, July 2013. The Darkness does not mix well with paradox space, nor does Craft mesh smoothly with the game mechanics of Sburb. Jade Harley makes plans to keep her friends safe despite the coming alteration of the natural laws they've relied on all their lives.
Tooth and Claw: (AO3 version) 750 words, Oct. 2014. The Dea al Mon are known as peerless knife-fighters. But all skills must be trained. Rose and her mother, familial dysfunction. [15-minute fic]
*Noblesse Oblige: (AO3 version) 500 words, March 2016. "I never wanted to be anyone's Queen," Jane says as she and Dave sit on the gray, game-construct platform. [prompt!fic for anonymous]
---------------
---------------
When Natasha Met Parker

No Matter Where You Are

*Rattle the Cage: (AO3 version) 800 words, Oct. 2014. Natasha finds Gaila imprisoned in a HYDRA lab. Her cover doesn't last very long after that. Prompt!fic for
geiszlerandgaila.
Following the Girl: (AO3 version) 1,225 words, Feb. 2015. "Let me make sure I've got this straight: your universe-jumping doohickey just happened to activate at the same moment Gamora caught the Tesseract, and that means she got zapped to wherever your lost crewmember is, and you wound up here instead?" Vaguely implied Peter Quill/Jim Kirk. Written for
samparker in the early 2015 Three Sentence Ficathon.
*The Company of Trees: (AO3 version) 1,600 words, March 2015. This was Gamora's universe, but she acted more out of place and isolated than Gaila. She held herself clenched tight like she was in enemy hands and opening would be to invite poison into her veins. Fortunately Gaila had years of practice forming out-nets and in-nets with aliens. Gaila/Gamora. Written for
samparker in the early 2015 Three Sentence Ficathon.

Crossover memes
One of these memes contains actual fics. The other two just contain fic ideas, but they may be interesting or amusing to read anyway... especially since I tend to get carried away and work out semi-serious plot outline sketches. *grin*
*Crossover mini-ficlet meme of DOOM: (AO3 version) 2,275 words, Dec. 2009. Ten characters, eleven prompts, utter chaos. Fandoms include Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lucifer, Angel Sanctuary, Star Trek: AOS, The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, and the Darkangel trilogy. Some component ficlets contain implied dubious consent, implied death, and implied dragons eating other sentient beings. Many also contain a lot of crack. (No individual fic is more than 450 words.

---------------
**An Ounce of Prevention: (AO3 version; ff.net version) 20,000 words, Aug.
I began writing this as a silly one-shot for
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Written for

Silent Screams: 925 words, March 2010. The alternate, darker version of Toph and Mai during the invasion of Toure-on-Marsh. Implied offscreen violence and death. [Request!fic for

(AKA, Dirk explains the old regime's eugenics program to Dave.) [prompt!fic for
Narutostuck: No Child Left Behind: (AO3 version) 1,450 words, March 2016.
[prompt!fic for
Narutostuck: Triptych: (AO3 version) 1,150 words, March 2016.
[prompt!fic for
*Narutostuck: By Which a Shattered World: (AO3 version) 1,650 words, March 2016.

Most are shorter. Not all are actually crossovers.)
Crack pairings meme: Aug. 2005. Fandoms include Harry Potter, Naruto, Ranma 1/2, BtVS, Gundam Wing, Labyrinth, Lucifer and Anne Bishop's Black Jewels series. This is the source of the ideas that became Lemonade and An Ounce of Prevention.
Blind questions about 10 random characters: Nov. 2009. Fandoms include Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Trek: AOS, The Acts of Caine, Angel Sanctuary, Lucifer, Seaward, Naruto, and Andre Norton's The Crystal Gryphon trilogy.
